The great man is he who does not lose his child's heart. Mencius, Book IV

INTRO
My biggest problem is that I don't want to admit that my childhood is over. There are moments when I close my eyes and think that it would be perfect to become a small girl again; usually such thoughts occur when I have to be responsible.. More and more often it turns out that there is no mother or father around to help me since I am the only person who can decide my own future. That's why I miss my childhood so much..
TOYS
My favourite toys can still be found in the attic. The cardboard boxes include: teddy bears, Barbie dolls and their pink house, a few child's intruments, innumerable McDonald's toys, plenty of board games, several of which could not be used because of my age and now it seems that once again it's my age which is an obstacle, skipping ropes and colourful books. However, much as I admired this set of toys, I preferred spending my time with a handful of children in our yard. Such activities as building makeshift hiding places, taking care of weeds in our garden or bicycle racing among our neighbours' cars were very common. If you are bored with my long description, look below and try to spot a similarity between Michasia and Michalina. ;)
Nothing tastes like a sausage!:)
..and maybe one more..
I loved this giraffe!;)

Finally, let me give you a piece of advice: DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF WHEN YOU
FORGET YOURSELF AND BEHAVE LIKE A CHILD! THAT IS ONE OF THE RARE MOMENTS WHEN YOU HAVE TO BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. But at the same time remember not to overuse this rule! ;)

There are a zillion songs I like and would like to share with you; however, very few of them show a clear story with the beginning and the end. Probably the best song which falls into this category is the one entitled "Handlebars". This song sung by Flobots does not deal with trivial matters; it turns out that a seemingly easy and childish activity depicted in the song, namely riding a bike with no handlebars, is the beginning for something completely new. What is clearly visible in the pop video, two boys ride their bicycles and suddenly they are to choose their own way when the road forks and forces them to follow either "C" (meaning probably corruption)or a white dove (one of numerous symbols of innocence). I could write you more but what's the point?! Simply: THE REST IS SILENCE. ;) If you want to learn more about the resons for writing "Handlebars", look here .
I must admit that I don't know much about this particular band and this hit by Flobots is the only one that I know; however, because of the lyrics, a specific beat and the pop video I'm head over heels in love with this song.

Look at the sky and try to reach for the moon! :)

1. I must admit that it's tremendously hard to find a positive news item on the Internet. Nothing comes to my mind...
2. Oh, my.. Think about yesterday! Maybe there happened something absolutely fantastic yesterday although you let this fact go unnoticed..
3. It works! Who would have thought that ideas come to your mind once you LOOK AT THE SKY! :)

Yesterday there was something absolutely brilliant visible in the sky- the full moon! I couldn't stop looking at this round torch...

If I had had a telescope, I could have better appreciated this beautiful view! You may think it's a little bit weird to write about the full moon BUT the yesterday's moon was of rare size and beauty! The shining disc made its closest approach in 18 years! Unbelievable! The exact distance between the Earth and the moon reached a length of 355 thousand kilometres whereas a typical distance fluctates between 363 and 406 thousand kilometres!

My final question: Where were you yesterday around 8 p.m.? ;)

"A little princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett :)

It was my fifth grade of the primary school. Our GP looked at me and said: "You have to go to hospital because you've got pneumonia and it's the best way to treat this disease". "OK, fair enough," Michalina thought. ;) As it turned out later, this period was horrible for me and I don't want to go to hospital anymore. The only thing that let me feel comfortable was a book that I had received from my classmates as a small gift, namely "A little princess". Thanks to this book I could forget about my reality and improve my imagination. I like this book for several reasons:
  • the main character, Sara, is very mature for her age; she loves his father to the utmost and although she knows that her father died and her privileges meant nothing, there was a ray of hope in her small heart
  • the Sara's father, Captain Crewe, was a perfect father and mother at the same time since his wife died after giving birth to her daughter
  • Miss Minchin, who is a horrible woman and at first treats Sara like a princess and then scowls at her; btw, it was Miss Minchin that was my first hated person (and don't forget that at that moment I perceived her as a real human)
  • Emily, (SURPRISE, SURPRISE!) the dream doll of Sara, which was given to her by her father.. It was her best doll ever. I think that the fragment below explains the main plot of the story:
"Papa," said Sara, "you see, if I went out and bought a new doll every few days I should have more than I could be fond of. Dolls ought to be intimate friends. Emily is going to be my intimate friend."

Captain Crewe looked at Miss Minchin and Miss Minchin looked at Captain Crewe.

"Who is Emily?" she inquired.

"Tell her, Sara," Captain Crewe said, smiling.

Sara's green-gray eyes looked very solemn and quite soft as she answered.

"She is a doll I haven't got yet," she said. "She is a doll papa is going to buy for me. We are going out together to find her. I have called her Emily. She is going to be my friend when papa is gone. I want her to talk to about him."

Miss Minchin's large, fishy smile became very flattering indeed.

"What an original child!" she said. "What a darling little creature!"

"Yes," said Captain Crewe, drawing Sara close. "She is a darling little creature. Take great care of her for me, Miss Minchin."

I think that all of us know this story about the little girl. I will not bore you with the whole plot. If interested, visit the link at the bottom of this post. I think that this book has enriched greatly my childhood and even now I can feel that it was worth reading. Have you met a girl who was not interested in feeling like a little princess with all these dresses, shoes, toys and even harsh Miss Minchin? ..YOU SEE! ;)

    "Somewhere I belong"...at least partially ;)

    The "I-has-been-captivated-by-your-story" theme begins..

This photo was taken (OMG!) two years ago. [8 Oct 2009]

It was a sheer coincidence.. Not so long after my matura exam, I talked to my aunt and she told me: "Remember, if you want to study in Poznań, I will provide you with a cosy room." How did I react? I appreciated her offer but since I had (still have!) a poor grasp of the streets and districts of Poznań, I did not realise what a lucky devil I was. Then it turned out that it's only a 5 minute walk to our beloved KJO! I couldn't believe my eyes!

Now I know that I love this small terraced house, my room on the first floor and things brought from my one and only house which do not fit there anymore; these things, as well as me, belong to this tiny corner of Poznań.

What can I see when I look out of my window? I see the terrace, four gardens (I don't want to risk falling out of the window so I write about four gardens only:D) and the blue building which happens to be the Pomorski hotel. However, the thing that deserves a closer look is the sky which tends to be blue and then reminds me of the symbol of DreamWorks, an American film studio. Since it is very late and strange ideas are coming to my mind, I'm leaving this place without pangs of conscience; I've managed to write this post before midnight!

P.S. Dear Reader, are you captivated by this story? :) See you tomorrow!
